If you've owned your digital camera for a year or more, than chances are you've give some thought to upgrading. No doubt, you've be prompted along those lines, by all the flashy new hi tech models offer by Canon, Nikon, Olympus and the rest of the manufacturers. There's no doubt in my mind, that digital technology has been the best thing to happen to the photography equipment niche in decades.
Never before, were camera manufacturers able to offer so many new must have features in their cameras every year, thanks to the inclusion of a few grams worth of silicon chips inside their cameras. It used to be that convincing photographers they needed a new interchangeable lens for the oh-so-rare lighting situation every year. Now a day, the manufacture are still selling the lens, but also all kinds of new digital features, like higher resolution LCD screens, HD 1080P video capture, live view, super fast and secure digital cards, and the latest and greatest battery chargers.
If your seriously considering upgrading your digital camera, you need to ask yourselves a few questions. Like, are you using your camera more, or for different activities these days? Or maybe, do you not bring your old camera with you anymore, because you simply know it won't do a very good job? For me, that second upgrade question rings particularly true. My kids have taken to competitive swimming lately. It's a particularly tricky sport to photograph. Especially from a distance, which is where most of the parents sit during swim meets. I know, that the new T1i SLR from Canon would be an amazing camera for me to capture good closeups with from most distances. Time for me to go shopping I guess ;)
