Why Buy the Canon PowerShot 1200 Elph Point and Shoot Compact Digital Camera?

Bookmark and Share

I have recently become addicted to digital photography, but I'm a simpleton - I can't use complicated settings! My new camera is a Canon Powershot 1200. It's an easy to use point and shoot digital camera. Weighing only 4.2 ounces, and measuring 3.5 x 2.2 inches, it is small enough to strap to your belt or fit in your pocket, so that you can have it with you at all times, ready to take a great picture at a moment's notice. I always take mine with me out hiking, strapped to my belt, so I can leave the case on my belt and have my camera ready to shoot in seconds.

The Canon Powershot 1200 (also known as the Canon Ixus) comes in a choice of colors - silver, pink, blue, orange, gray-and you can chose from a wide range of cases to match your camera.Cases range from underwater protection cases to neoprene to leather, and are available in a wide range of colors, so the camera can go with you whatever you are doing.

The Canon Powershot digital camera has an "Intelligent Auto" button that lets the camera select the correct setting for the environment at the time. It reads the light, adjusts the focus, and produces excellent clear photos at the click of button to. However, if you are the sort of person who actually is choosing all the settings yourself, the Canon Powershot has plenty of options to allow you to personalize your photos. There are options for you to you to play with light, color, exposures, the flash and all the other things photographers love clever.

This camera also allows you to make bite sized videos - perfect for YouTube.

For me, the best feature of this Canon Powershot digital Elph camera is the preset buttons. You have the option to select over 10 presets. My favorites are "sunset" - self explanatory, "kids and pets", which allows you to take pictures of fast moving objects without them becoming blurred, and "digital macro" which lets you take wonderful close ups. I use this for photographing flowers. Other settings include "snow", "beach" and "foliage" - easy to understand and use.

This Canon PowerShot used to come with a very small memory card. This has now been discontinued so you will need to buy a memory card at the same time as your digital camera. I use a 4 GB card which has easily enough capacity for me.

There are lots of other gadgets and gizmos you can buy - tripods, clamps, extra lenses for example, but nothing else that you actually need to take your first photos. So, if you are ready to buy a new, easy to use compact digital camera, check this one out. It comes at a very good price, I hope you love it as much as I do!
