Canon PowerShot SD1300IS Review By Professional Photographer

This is my own Canon SD1300IS review. I have several Canon PowerShot cameras and this little compact camera is at the top of my list. I do like the layout of the buttons and the menu is pretty much the same as the previous Canons.

I wanted something small and compact that would take good quality photos and videos so I would not have to pack around my clunky DSLR and my camcorder. This does the trick. This camera is just a little bit smaller than a deck of cards. I can just put it in my shirt pocket and take off.

I carry this Canon SD1300IS camera with me everywhere because I like to catch those special moments and emotions or that special scene and with this camera I can take the photo or video very quickly and I don not have to mess with a lot of settings like I would on my DSLR or my camcorder and miss the photo opportunity.

Sometimes I will set the Canon SD1300IS camera on auto mode and let it choose the settings. It has built in sensors to calculate the light and it will make the necessary adjustments automatically. I have used this setting a lot and I am getting the most crisp, clear, and beautiful photos. This camera has the ability to take brilliant photos in low light settings on auto mode.

Most point and shoot cameras are not capable of producing high quality low light shots on auto mode. Not so with this one. No problem with the 28mm wide angle lens and the 4x optical zoom and image stabilizer. I can also set the camera manually and adjust the white light balance and the ISO if I want to. With this camera it has not been necessary to do this very often because most of the time I can just set it on auto mode and I am getting pictures just as good if not better than my expensive DSLR.

I take a lot of videos of my daughter with this Canon SD1300IS camera. The video is 30fps 640 x 480 and is comparable to my high priced camcorder which is 1280 x 720. The videos are coming out very clear and crisp with a lot of color.

All in all I would recommend this Canon SD1300IS to anyone who is looking for a compact digital camera at an affordable price that will take high quality photos and videos.

Before you purchase your camera it is a good idea to do a little research.

You Do Not Need More Megapixels.

You need to develop the creative ability to portray your subject in a unique style.

If you go to a major camera dealer they will try to sell you a camera with a high resolution and ISO. Resolution and ISO are numbers created by the major camera manufacturers to try to sell you a more high priced expensive camera. The only thing a higher ISO is going to do is make the picture look grainier. The only time you will need a higher ISO is when you are shooting without a flash in the dark. If you use a flash with a higher ISO setting the flash will cancel out the higher ISO setting.
