If you are serious about photography, then at some point you will think about photography macro. Images that can be taken with a macro lens can be truly impressive with a level of detail that makes the image a marvel look. Before you start you will want to make sure you choose the lens suitable for your camera to photograph macro and the following is a review of the Canon EF - S 60 mm macro lens.
The Canon EF - S 60 mm macro objective has a lens focus fixed with USM or ultra sonic motor for quiet operation and a 2.8 aperture. Taking out of the box it is presented with a very well made lens with a solid feel and a detailed instruction booklet. The lens has an EF-S mount, by what he can fit on popular models should 450 D and 500 D as well as some of the higher range Canon camera like the 5 D. The lens is not compatible with Canon's superior range cameras that only have a mount EOF.
Once there the lens operation and connected to camera Canon wants to start using it. First thing to note is it is pretty small compared to other lenses and is a fixed focal distance, so it can do zoom on a topic. This means that you you will have to physically move the topic to get closer, but that's the point of a macro lens right?
It can be a fixed focal lens EF-S 60 mm have a secondary use as a portrait lens. Performs well in my tests with this use though not necessarily I have as my lens only if there. Where the lens really shines however is once you start with the macro photography.
Photograph of macro using the Canon EF - S 60 mm
As a lens Canon EF - S 60 mm macro performed very well. The level of detail in images taken can be astonishing, especially once you see on the monitor of a large team. The nearest focal range I got was about 15 cm from the theme so can close.
During my tests I took some photos of small flowers and insects, although getting to stay still when you're this close is difficult. Images taken are incredible with a level of detail as opposed to any other pictures I have taken with normal lenses. There is no loss of definition to the edges and colors are sharp in everything.
As it is an objective USM operation is very quiet, again something very useful to get close in animals. With this in mind may be useful to add a small tripod and the mechanism of remote activation, thus quickly can placing the camera close to the topic and get away to not be so afraid to.
The mechanism of AF is very fast, although I occasionally have problems as they exchanged between close two focal points.
Other alternatives to this target macro
If you have a Canon digital SLR camera there are a couple of alternatives for low price of Canon for this objective.
The objective of Canon EF 100 mm macro is more expensive, but is compatible with the more expensive Canon DSLR available so if you are considering upgrading or already possess a higher range camera this would be a better option.
The objective of Canon EF 50 mm macro is an oldest lens and therefore is less expensive than the 60 mm lens. Although it has more whose than the Canon EF - S 60 mm as slower AF and struggling in low light is compatible with cameras Canon of superior range and under the right conditions has very good shots.
It is recommended that objective?
Without the shadow of a doubt if you are interested in photography macro and own a Canon DSLR then no hesitation purchasing this objective. It has been a great addition to my collection and gets regular use and I love to study closely the images on a larger screen.
Chris became interested in more serious photography a few years ago and takes every opportunity which can get away and approaches of taking pictures. For more information visit their Web site at the Canon 450 d or the Canon 550 d.
