The majority of digital camera enthusiasts know that point-and-shoot digital cameras suffer from too much reliance on automatic modes and a limited set of features. This means that most compact digital cameras offer little control or are extremely difficult to do so and do not offer a full range of functions to get the best shot possible. Trying to change this perception is the Canon Powershot G10 Digital camera 14.7MP.

The Canon Powershot G10 is physically similar to the G9. With a weight of 14 ounces, it is also a little larger and a little heavier. Like its previous incarnations of series G, body of metal of the Canon Powershot G10 is voluminous as solid. While the grip is comfortable, the rest of thumb may feel somewhat slippery. Canon has stacked mode dial on the dial ISO for the right, easy one-handed operation and adds an exposure compensation dial on the left. It uses a switch of four tracks with the button of function/set located within the navigation wheel on the back. The point, visualization, measurement and focus menu buttons were found in the same positions with a more sloping design that is just as comfortable. The optical viewfinder is quite large and without distortion.

The Canon Powershot G10 has a new optically stabilized lens (28-140 mm f/2.8-4.8), as well as a 1/1.7 CCD inches 14.7 megapixels. The AF Servo is a nice addition as well but with no confirmation of focus in the viewfinder area some users may take some time to get used to it.

The switch of a latest generation processor DIGIC 4 which comes with face detection, auto-shutter release (based on face detection) and automatic correction of contrast i but still retains the 30 fps (no optical zoom) VGA movie capture. Disable the Canon Powershot G10 has a rapid 1.3 second first shot and a relatively fast time approach in bright light with a time lag of 0.4 seconds shutter. This value increases 0.8 second in dim light with continuous shooting at 1.4 fps, slightly slower than the G9 1.7 fps. The AF system is sensitive but not nearly as good as an SLR. The 3 inch LCD screen is large, bright, but uses a little power so hope to use the camera as a half length as if you were just the smaller viewfinder.

Fortunately the Canon Powershot G10 takes some great pictures with stunning color and exposure. Although sometime appear distortion wide angle, more photos are very good Center and the periphery to the periphery sharpness (especially at longer focal ranges). In general the Canon Powershot G10 Digital camera 14.7MP is a great compact upper end to go with your digital SLR as it takes great shots while it offers a lot of features as well.
